Wey-Fun Rain Day Policy
This year, Wey-Fun is having three different locations that will be utilized on a rainy day. There will be rotations of the location and age group present at the locations. There will be day A, B, & C.
  • The 4-6 age group will always be at the Wessagusset School Cafeteria. All children will be brought back to Wessagusset School at the end of the day for pick-up at the Wessagusset School.
  • Rain Plan A, the 6-8 age group and half the 8-10 age group will be at the Immaculate Conception Parish Hall. The other half of the 8-10 and the 10+ age group will be at Pilgrim Church.
  • Rain Plan B, the 6-8 age group and half the 8-10 age group will be at the Pilgrim Church. The other half of the 8-10 and the 10+ age group will be at Immaculate Conception Parish Hall.
  • No three age groups will be in any one location. The 6-8 age group may spend some time at the Wessagusset School cafeteria with the 4-6 age group if the activity is appropriate.
  • The specific “Plan” in effect will be posted on our message board on-site at the Wessagusset School, on our web page (www.weymouth.ma.us/rec) or you can call the Recreation office at 781-682-6124.

  • Kayaking Adventures (8-10 and 10+)
    • For years we have struggled to make kayaking a major offering of the Wey-Fun Program. In 2010 it has arrived!
    • Each week we will offer afternoon kayaking to participants registered into Wey-Fun and Kayaking Adventures for that week.
    • The Kayak Adventures registration is free but required.
    • Participants must also commit to the entire week..
    • Kayaking is a skill based activity.
    • The participants commitment is required due to the need to build each day on the skills learned in the earliersessions.
    On- the- Go (10+)
    • New, The 10+ age-group will have the opportunity to leave the Wey-Fun sites to explore more adventurous activities and the best facilities in the area.
    • The On-the-Go activities, like kayaking, require building skills over a period of time.
    • For this reason participants must register (free) in addition to their Wey-Fun registration and commit to the whole week.
    • Activities will take place on the South Shore and may include but not be limited to tennis at Weymouth High School, street hockey at the D.C.R. outdoor rink in Hull, Hiking at the Blue Hills in Canton.
    • To ensure adequate staff ratios, minimum and maximum enrollment figures must be maintained.
